The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus, has started construction on a renovation and expansion of its worship center. The worship center was originally built in 1980 and was in need of an update. The $1.8 million project seeks to expand, renovate and refresh the worship center and lobby; enable livestreaming of services and events and bring the worship center to current Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 accessibility standards. Construction includes replacing the pathway from the parking lot to the worship center with an ADA accessible ramp; adding a new vestibule at the worship center entrance; adding a two story 20 foot by 40 foot addition on the Cedar Crest Boulevard side of the building and installing new carpeting, furniture, audiovisual equipment and lighting. Until the construction is complete, they will utilize a large tent, recently set up in the church parking lot, for meetings and worship services. The congregation looks forward to occupying the worship center in the late fall during its 60th anniversary year. Until then “All are Welcome” to join them for worship in the tent 8:45 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Sunday mornings.
