Northampton looks to make push

With time winding down in the Connie Mack season, Northampton expects to be busy.

The Kids are 5-4 on the thus far and battling for a playoff spot.

“Honestly this season has been rough from the weather stand point, so I was having to move games around on a regular basis and with 2 weeks of the season left I have half my games left to make up,” said head coach Tom Onusconich. “We had a rough patch at the beginning of the season having to work around players playing for other teams.”

Evan Hughes, Matthew Merced and Devin Motsko are the team’s returning veterans, all three have been strong pitching-wise for Northampton.

“We have been playing very well as of late and have been down in games where the kids have dug deep to mount a comeback,” said Onusconich.

The team’s most recent win was a slugfest victory over Palmerton.

“The Palmerton game was a good example of that, we were down eight runs going into the bottom of the 7th and scored 8 runs to tie the game and send it into extra innings and win it in the bottom of the 8th with a walk off hit by Matty Merced.

“We have gotten some good pitching and the bats are coming alive and each kid honestly has contributed to all the wins by being flexible and going into situations in which they are put into positions they may not be comfortable in and done well.”

Members of the team are: Matthew Aicher, Colin Baer, Jacob Colocino, Logan Eberly, Ethan Gober, Jayden Grube, Evan Hughes, Michael Jordan, Rowan Koch, Aidan Maltese, Ben Maynard, Matthew Merced, Devin Motsko, Ella Muhr, Brandyn Schmick, Daniel Seidick, Conner Weighknecht and Andrew Whitman.
