At its May 12 meeting, East Allen Township Board of Supervisors approved two grant applications to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for stream and habitat restoration. The funds, if approved by the state, would be used at both of the township’s Bicentennial Parks.
The board also voted to grant conditional final plan approval for the phase three development of the Regency at Creekside Meadows.
Supervisors voted on a consideration request for brake retarder restriction on Route 329. By a 3-2 vote, the board approved for the township engineer to review the situation and provide the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation with a written report.
In other news, a recommendation to appoint a deputy emergency management coordinator was tabled so that a review of qualifications needed to perform the job can be completed.
The public works department is in high gear preparing for the summer season. Personnel have been cleaning the parks and trying to get the roads in shape, said Brent Green, township manager, when reached after the meeting.
The recreation department reported the inaugural East Allen Township Farmers Market was a big success. The market will be held through September.
Also at the meeting, it was mentioned the open spaces and farmland preservation committee is growing. There were about 15 attendees at the last meeting. The group recently received 100 yard signs reading “Save Our Farms.” The signs will be handed out to residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
