It’s hard to believe the Fourth of July is just around the corner and that means parties, picnics and celebrations.
These events usually include some type of alcohol.
Driving under the influence is not only a result of alcohol, but can also be caused by over-the-counter medications, prescription medications, medical marijuana and illegal drugs.
Remember if you feel different, you drive different.
The Fourth of July Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign will run June 21-July 4.
Police will be conducting DUI checkpoints and DUI roving patrols across Pennsylvania looking for driver’s who are impaired, and stopping and arresting them.
Being arrested for a DUI may have many consequences including monetary ones such as towing fees, fines, court costs, attorney fees and more.
You could lose your job, go to jail, your driver’s license will be suspended, and your car insurance rates will either skyrocket or your policy will be canceled.
Designate a sober driver or use a ride share service such as Uber or Lyft.
Not only will you be protecting yourself, but you will be protecting other road users as well.
Please don’t make yourself or someone else a statistic during this holiday as you may not be the only one living with your decision.
