Jeffrey Charles Yost

Jeffrey Charles Yost, Ph.D., 63, of Edmonds, Wash., formerly of South Whitehall Township, died May 21, 2021, at Swedish Cherry Hill Campus, Seattle, Wash.

Born Dec. 7, 1957, in Allentown, he was the son of Patricia H.I. (Roxberry) Yost of Allentown and the late Charles W. Yost.

A 1975 graduate of Parkland High School, he was a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a Master’s degree in physiology.

He earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in cell, molecular and developmental biology from Tufts University School of Medicine.

He was the head of process development and a scientist at Partner Therapeutics (PTx), Lynn-wood, Wash. since 2018.

Before that, he was employed at Sanofi-Genzyme, Bayer HealthCare, Berlex, Amgen and Immunex Corporation.

He was a science guy first and foremost, a devoted supporter of the medication, Leukine, and of his staff.

His critical thinking capabilities, process knowledge, protein understanding, analytical capabilities and willingness to share his knowledge made him a valued contributor in many process changes, investigations and troubleshooting exercises over the years to ensure a robust supply of Leukine to patients.

His legacy at PTx will be his contributions to science and his commitment to help and befriend his colleagues.

His journey to the Pacific Northwest started as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Washington and his love for the outdoors kept him in the region.

An avid outdoorsman, he had a particular love for hiking with his beloved dog, Jewel, and climbing.

He was also an oenophile with a great love for Washington State wines, being a member of several wine clubs.

Passionate about marksmanship, he strove to be the best and won several awards over the years, including the coveted Sniper King Award in 2011.

He was a member of the National Bench Rest Shooters Association-Northwest Region, the Kenmore Shooting Range, and the Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club.

He will be forever remembered as a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, colleague and friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his loving mother, he is survived by a brother, Douglas M. Yost and sister-in-law, Stacy Barnwell of San Antonio, Texas; sister Linda P. Sobchak and brother-in-law, Peter J. Sobchak Jr. of Whitehall; nieces and nephews Peter J. Sobchak III, Jacob C. Sobchak and his wife, Alyssa M. Sobchak, Rebecca L. Sobchak, and Morgan M. and Thomas C. Yost.

He was predeceased by a sister, Karen M. Yost.

His service will be private, at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
