Several projects approved with modifications

Several resolutions were approved during the Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners hybrid meeting June 3.

The first resolution involved a modification of the Ricky Kulik project. This project is for a funeral home and crematory at 6503 Lower Macungie Road, the area on the corner of Lower Macungie Road and Mill Creek Road. The project calls for a modification of the drainage basin. Basically it needs to be enlarged. The resolution was approved.

Another resolution was approved for a modified plan of the proposed parking. Due to some property expansion, the parking situation will have a better flow.

A sewer hookup proposal was approved for 5918 Lower Macungie Road. The hookup is due to a new residence being constructed.

Commissioners approved Resolution 2021-27, which calls for affirming a special fire police appointment. The person appointed is Alan Fulep.

Rudy Fischl was approved for the Lower Macungie Township Planning Commission with a term to end Jan. 1, 2022.

Layla Muth was approved for a slot on the Lower Macungie Library board of directors with a term to expire Jan. 31, 2024.

Nicole Floramo, Donna Shellenberger and John Reinbold were appointed and approved for the planning commission with terms to expire Dec. 31, 2022.

Township engineer Bryan McAdam gave an update on the sewer clean-out project. It was completed ahead of schedule. Restoration is in the process.

Macungie Ambulance Corps conducted training exercises recently. The training revolved around mass casualties.

Recently there was a major sewer backup. Commissioner Ron Beitler said the response was very fast, which diverted potentially major issues. Gratitude was expressed for the rapid response.
