Coplay council approves nonresident pool pass prices

As part of the June 8 Coplay Borough Council meeting, council members unanimously approved nonresident season pass prices for Parkway Pool’s 2021 summer.

A nonresident family pass, which includes two adults and two children, is $250, with each additional family member costing $20. A nonresident adult season pass is $130, and a nonresident student season pass is $120. Council also approved the cost for a nonresident daily pass in the amount of $15 and a nonresident twilight admission fee of $5.

The Parkway Pool opening is now set for June 19. Aqua Zumba begins June 21 and will take place 6-7 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday.

Lehigh County Executive Phillips Armstrong attended the meeting to address any questions council had and explained he is currently serving on two national committees.

Discussions occurred among council members about having one license agreement to use when parties wish to reserve the Saylor Park baseball field, instead of having multiple types of lease agreements. Council voted and the motion to use the new proposed license agreement presented by the borough solicitor passed unanimously.

As part of the approval, the borough will maintain a calendar noting the reserved dates and user or organization name. This calendar will be provided to the borough police, public works and fire departments so all are readily aware of who is using the field.

Both the Coplay Garden Club and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley received approval to have the pavilion fee waived when they use the facility.

The garden club will be holding the June 24 and July 29 meetings in the pavilion.

The run/walk charity event held by PCFLV is slated for Sept. 18. Council also approved the planting of a tree on behalf of the foundation.

Coplay parks and recreation committee will host Craft and Arts in the Park Oct. 2 and 3. Council also approved a rental waiver for the use of the pavilion for this event.

Council members approved Coplay Sports to host movie events in the park July 13 and Aug. 10. Coplay Sports will be donating 50 percent of the popcorn sales at this event to the borough.

Coplay Sports and the Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce received approval to host a corn hole tournament Oct. 9 at the upper field.
