University of Maryland

Jessica Pimentel of Bethlehem earned a master of science in management from University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC). The university held a virtual stateside commencement on May 15.

University of Scranton

The University of Scranton held its in-person undergraduate celebration ceremonies May 23. Degrees were conferred to graduates who had completed their academic degree requirements in August and December of 2020, as well as January and May of 2021.

Bethlehem area residents who earned undergraduate degrees include Lamese E. Elias, bachelor of science degree in environmental science; Dylan D. LeVan, bachelor of science degree in biology; Rachel A. Smith, bachelor of science degree in biology; Daniel R. Shuck, bachelor of science degree in occupational therapy; Jarod M. Herman, bachelor of science degree in marketing and business analytics; Michael A. Karoly, bachelor of science degree in accounting; and Matthew I. Morrow, bachelor of science degree in business administration.

Local students earning master’s and doctoral degrees include Vianey Florentino Perez, master of arts in theology; and Mark Hamann, master of business administration in finance and accounting. The award ceremony was on May 22 at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Casey Plaza, Wilkes-Barre.

Wilkes University

Six area residents earned master of science degrees from Wilkes University during the school’s 74th spring commencement, from May 28 to 30. Tyler Merrick, Jessica Pretopapa, Sheri Sadler and Samantha Siegfried, all of Bethlehem, and Rebecca Miller of Freemansburg earned master of science in education degrees. Julie Nong of Bethlehem earned a doctor of pharmacy degree.
