The Great Allentown Fair, one of Pennsylvania’s oldest and largest events, returns for 2021, beginning at 4 p.m. Sept. 1 and continuing through Labor Day Sept. 6.
Two of the Fairgrounds Grandstand concerts postponed in 2020 are rescheduled.
Toby Keith, with opening acts Matt Stell and Laine Hardy, performs Sept. 2.
Carrie Underwood, with opening act Dan Smalley, sings Sept. 3.
The J&J Demolition Derby, a Labor Day tradition at the Fair, is Sept. 6.
Beverly Gruber, president of Lehigh County Agricultural Society, which owns and operates the Fair and Allentown Fairgrounds, announced the unanimous decision of the nonprofit’s executive committee to present the 2021 Fair.
“The announcement of the easement of COVID-19 restrictions from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania updated health and safety guidelines, along with our continued conversations with Allentown’s Department of Health, led to the decision to go ahead with the 2021 Allentown Fair,” said Gruber in a press release.
“The health and safety of our local and out-of-town fairgoers, exhibitors, vendors and entertainers has and will always be our number one priority,” Gruber said.
Additional information will be released as COVID-19 guidelines and regulations evolve throughout the summer.
The Allentown Fair was founded in 1852 as a community celebration of agricultural achievements with entertainment and amusements and evolved into a nationally-renown exposition with midway rides and games and entertainment venues, including the 10,500-seat Grandstand.
Previously-purchased tickets will be honored for the 2021 concerts.
