Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, presented a Memorial Day ceremony in Neffs Union Cemetery.
A small crowd enjoyed a beautiful Memorial Day as Pastor Gordon Camp conducted a service of remembrance for those lost in wars that spanned three centuries of U.S. history.
Camp was raised in a military family. His father was a career soldier.
This experience helps him understand the challenges to active duty troops and veterans and the loss they suffer when a fellow service member is lost in wartime.
Capt. James O’Connor, U.S. Navy chaplain (retired) attended the ceremony.
He served the Navy from 1968-97.
His duty stations included Vietnam, sea duty on three different air craft carriers and state side duty at the Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, N.H.
He is an ordained Lutheran minister with the Missouri Synod.
