Adopt a Butterfly campaign begins in Macungie

Macungie Pool is open. Pool hours are weekdays noon to 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends. Sign-ups are no longer required. Pool customers must park outside Macungie Memorial Park grounds during the Antique Truck Show June 17-19. Swim lessons are also available. More information is available at www.MacungiePark.com.

There will be an Adopt a Butterfly campaign for the summer in the Borough of Macungie. For each adoption fee, a 22-inch butterfly will be placed on Main Street from the beginning of June to mid-August.

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., offers its free community meal as a drive-up option. The next meal will be offered 4-5:30 p.m. June 11.

Grace Lutheran Church offers a contactless monthly outdoor drive-up Grace Food Cupboard Give-Away. The next dates for the food cupboard are 2:30-4 p.m. June 22 and June 25 when anyone can receive one bag with nonperishable food. There will also be a supplemental distribution 2:30-4 p.m. June 9. Both events take place in the parking lot; signs will be posted.

Grace Lutheran Church now offers an in-person worship service 10:30 a.m. Sundays. Worshippers must register online in advance. They will continue to offer a livestream worship service 9 a.m. Sundays. The Macungie Farmers Market is open 4-7 p.m. Thursdays on Lumber Street, just off Main Street, Macungie.

There will be a Spring Into Summer Food Truck and Vendor Festival noon to 5 p.m. June 5 at Macungie Memorial Park.

The Antique Truck Club of America will hold its 42nd annual National Meet and Flea Market at Macungie Memorial Park June 18 and 19.

Cash bingo is held weekly Saturday evenings at Macungie Memorial Park. Doors open 4:30 p.m. and games begin 6:30 p.m. Attendance is limited to 60 people; seating is spaced for distancing. The Macungie Park Board of Directors meeting will be held 7 p.m. June 29.

I was immersed in typing on the computer one morning and wasn’t really paying attention to what my husband was doing. He was working on some household repair and was going back and forth gathering tools. All I heard was “a screw loose.” I asked, “Did you say you have a screw loose?” He replied, “No, I said there’s a screw loose in the light fixture!”
