Donald R. Missimer
Donald R. Missimer, 87, of Northampton, died May 27, 2021, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.
He was the husband of Elinor M. (Frack) Missimer.
Born June 3, 1933, in Northampton, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Mildred C. (Bachman) Missimer.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during a peacetime era.
He was appointed a local registrar for the Pennsylvania Department of Vital Records for 15 years before retiring in 2017.
Before that, he was employed at the former Newhart Foods, Coplay, for several years and was a foreman at Lehigh Valley Dairy for 36 years.
Active in the life of his church and community, he was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Northampton, where he served as an elder, consistory member and committee member throughout his life.
He was instrumental in facilitating the new building of the Northampton Area Food Bank where he promoted the program and volunteered his time to this worthy cause to help those in need.
He also served as president of the Northampton Exchange Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children David M. Missimer (Hope) of Grovetown, Ga., Donald J. Spohn Jr. (Diane) of Slatington, Deborah M. Markert (George) of Slatington, Donna M. Missimer of Whitehall, Donald M. Missimer (JoAnne) of New Jersey; sisters Barbara Ann Budnik and Betty Lou Proctor (James), both of Northampton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at St. Peter’s UCC Cemetery, Seemsville, Northampton. There will be no public calling hours.
