Donald R. Missimer, 87, of Northampton, died May 27, 2021, at The Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Elinor M. (Frack) Missimer.

Born in Northampton, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Mildred C. (Bachman) Missimer.

He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during a peacetime era.

He was a local registrar for the Pennsylvania Department of Vital Records for 15 years before retiring in 2017. Earlier, he was employed at the former Newhart Foods, Coplay, for several years and was a foreman at Lehigh Valley Dairy for 36 years.

He was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Northampton, where he served as an elder, consistory member and committee member throughout his life.

He volunteered with Northampton Area Food Bank and was instrumental in facilitating the food bank’s new building. He also served as president of Northampton Exchange Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, David M. with Hope of Grovetown, Ga., Donald J. Spohn Jr. with Diane of Slatington, Deborah M. Markert with George of Slatington, Donna M. of Whitehall and Donald M. with JoAnne of New Jersey; two sisters, Barbara Ann Budnik and Betty Lou Proctor with James, all of Northampton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.
