The National Scenic Visitors Center, Easton, unveiled its Earthwalk Explorer map May 6 at Da Vinci Science Center, Allentown,

The Earthwalk Explorer is a 16-foot map showing the eastern United States, from North Carolina to New Hampshire.

Constructed of a durable polyurethane rubber, the map can easily be transported to host museums throughout the region it depicts.

Created by the Northampton County Community College Fab Lab, the three-dimensional map works in synch with a Geoshow.

A Geoshow creates graphics and animations projected onto the map revealing the progression of human activates through recorded history as well as “projections of mountain ranges, forests, rivers and lakes, state borders, cities, trails, and cultural features,” according to a news release from the National Scenic Visitors Center.

“The map is a one-of-a-kind experience and invites children of all ages to come, explore and connect with the geography of our nation ...” state Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th, said.

The National Scenic Visitors Center will build a walkable 60-foot map of the United States which will tour major museums nationwide.
