Coplay: Stereotype set to perform May 28

The next outdoor Friday concert at Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is Stereotype May 28.

Chelsea Lyn Meyer will perform June 4.

The Saengerbund has announced the schedule for the Sunday summer polka dances. Dave Betz is set to perform May 30.

Upcoming performers include John and Marie, June 6; the Jolly Bavarians, June 13; Joe Kroboth, June 20; and Emil Schanta, June 27.

For both the Friday and Sunday concerts, doors open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5:30 p.m. Members may sign in two guests. There is a cover charge.

Bands are subject to change without notice. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines will be followed.

American Legion Post 426, Coplay, will be holding a Memorial Day service noon May 30 at the Saengerbund veterans memorial at South Fifth and Hokendauqua streets.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is presenting the Kerygma Program 6:30 p.m. May 30.

There is a meal and discussion, with the first topic - the Ten Commandments. Kerygma is Greek for “message” or “teaching.”

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is saying goodbye to its pastor, Msgr. John J. Martin, after 10 years.

There will be ecumenical gatherings in the social hall after all Masses June 12 and 13 to wish him well.

The church is also seeking volunteers to help make pierogies. Production is expected to resume June 15.

Parkway Pool will open June 19. Season passes are now available for residents.

Hours for June are noon-7 p.m.

The popular Aqua Zumba class restarts June 21. It runs 6-7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesday for ages 14 and up. There is a cost.

The Coplay summer entertainment series will begin 6:15-9:15 p.m. June 23 with the Chas Band playing music from the 1950s to the present.

The concerts are held at Community Plaza, North Second and Chestnut streets. The series will run every other Wednesday through September.

There is no admission fee.

According to Steve Burker, a Coplay Community Days leader, the event is on and scheduled for Aug. 27-29 in the Coplay Parkway, Second and Keefer streets.
