LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Coplay Public Library: Coplay library begins in-person storytime May 27

Join Miss Janice for the return to in-person storytime, set for 11 a.m. May 27!

Storytimes throughout the summer will now be in person. The same storytime will be presented 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 11 a.m. Thursdays to accommodate various schedules.

Upcoming dates include 4:30 p.m. June 9 and 11 a.m. June 17.

Look forward to new stories and crafts every other week.

***

The library will be closed May 29 and 31 in observance of Memorial Day.

***

As of June 1, we will no longer be quarantining returned materials. The Lehigh-Carbon Library Cooperative is supporting all member libraries who wish to follow this protocol. Transmission of COVID-19 via surface materials has been shown to be completely negligible.

***

There will be an outdoor community crawl to visit seven parks and community locations beginning June 1. Suggestions for easy activities at each site are printed on the guide.

The crawl can count toward your events badges earned for the Summer Quest challenge (see details below). However, everyone is encouraged to visit some or all of the sites. The tour does not have to be completed in a day. Help yourself and the planet by making your visits using sustainable transportation, such as walking, running, biking, scooting or taking the bus.

Everyone who turns in a completed game sheet by Aug. 21 will receive a free plantable pencil. Supplies are limited.

The official kickoff event for Summer Quest 2021 Tails and Tales program is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. June 12. We will have chalk art, live music, a light snack and much more.

Animal yoga is planned for 11:30 a.m., and therapy dogs are expected noon-2 p.m. Events are planned for both indoors and outdoors, so remember to wear your sunscreen.

The Summer Quest challenge begins June 7. To register and receive an information packet, come to the library during open hours. You may also register on our website, coplaypubliclibrary.org.

The programs are open to prereaders, children, teens and adults. Although some of the activities will be specific to an age group, multigenerational activities will be included.

The challenge for all age groups ends Aug. 28.

The theme for both June and August will be books that are on your to-be-read list. Take this opportunity to read a great book you’ve been putting off.
