Jonathan M. Dech, 53, of Macungie, died peacefully May 14, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Karen Dech. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Roderick and Nancy (Weida) Dech.

He attended Anderson University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.

He started his early career as a loan officer and gradually worked his way up to office supervisor within several loan companies. In 2008, he switched careers from underwriting to pipelines and started to work for Buckeye Pipeline. He started as a pipeline controller and then promoted to a terminal scheduler in 2011.

He was an active member of Life Church, Macungie, where he regularly attended with his family.

He is survived by his wife; children, Carter, Preston, Ethan, Cassandra, Sophie and Olivia; a brother, Peter and his wife, Kristina; a sister, Rebecca and her husband, Scott Congdon; a father-in-law, Thomas Somers Sr.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Barbara (Slocum) Somers.

Contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

A viewing will be held 6 to 8 p.m. May 27 and 10 to 11 a.m. May 28 with a service 11 a.m. May 28, all at the Sell-Herron Funeral Home, 2245 Lehigh St., Allentown.
