Barbara Ann Hacker

Barbara Ann Hacker, 78, of Lower Macungie Township, died May 20, 2021, in her home. She was the wife of the late William H. “Bill” Hacker. Born in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Mervine) Hasuga.

She served in many positions throughout her career including as executive director at Inglis Home Services, national health care consultant for NovaCare-Polaris Group, director of clinical services for Presbyterian Homes, Inc., vice president for nursing at Lehigh Valley Hospital and assistant general director at Albert Einstein Medical Center (Mt. Sinai Division).

She was a national speaker and consultant and author of numerous health care publications.

She received recognition and honorary awards in nursing throughout her 50-year career.

She received her Master of Education degree from Temple University.

She was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, Easton

She was a member of the American Association of Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinators, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Sigma Theta Tau - International Honor Society of Nursing.

She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to New York City and Broadway shows. She loved spending time with her family and her beloved dogs.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah and her husband, Jeffrey Sibel, of Collegeville; an aunt, Pearl Petrovicz, of Kulpmont; nephews, Michael Hasuga and David Hasuga, both of Harrisburg; cousins, Rosemary Noona, of Elmwood Park, N.J., Charles Noona and his wife, Peggy, of Pennington, N.J. and Basil Hashuga, of Mt. Carmel.

A Parastas service will be held 11 a.m. May 26 in the J. S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton streets, Allentown. A calling hour will be held 10 to 11 a.m. May 26 in the funeral home.
