Lois C. Nowack, 79, of Schnecksville, died May 17, 2021, in Phoebe Health Care Center.
She and her husband, David J. Nowack, celebrated 49 years of marriage last September.
Born Feb. 15, 1942, in Camden, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Ralph C. and Esther W. (Rode) Blattenberger.
She was raised in California where she met her husband.
A graduate of San Diego City College and Muhlenberg College, magna cum laude, she was an underwriter and customer service representative for several insurance companies.
She loved music, singing with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem for 16 years, including on the choir’s first trip to Germany, and also many years with the Camerata Singers.
She also joined the Allentown Chapter of the American Association of University Women, earning the “Emerging Star” award for her work as program chairwoman.
Travel was a major interest for her, with trips throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Hong Kong.
Later in life, she developed an interest in World War II re-enacting.
After extensive research, she chose to portray Rosie the Riveter at shows, exhibits and by giving lectures.
She belonged to the Victory Society, which represents life on the home front during World War II.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Allentown.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by several cousins.
