The Friends of the Library will continue the ongoing book sale throughout the year.

The books are located to the right of the circulation desk. New books are added every week.

We take book donations all year but are not accepting videos, textbooks, encyclopedias or old musty books. Three boxes or bags of donations per person, per day will be accepted.

The weekly interactive Zoom storytime will continue 11 a.m. Tuesdays until May 25.

The Teen Advisory Board also records a story for our young patrons every other month. You can find the storytimes on our website, whitehallpl.org.

The 2021 summer reading program theme is Tails and Tales and will run 9 a.m. June 7 through 1 p.m. Aug. 14.

Register and log books online. Watch our website for the registration link or pick up a log sheet at the front desk.

There will be different contests, virtual programs and at-home activities. We’re currently scheduling programs with Super Science & Amazing Art, the American Swedish Historical Museum and other events of our own.

We’re selling brown bags of new or gently used books. The exact books will be a surprise, but each bag has five to 10 books and has a card on it listing the theme of the bag.

In-person programs have been canceled or postponed until June 1.

Curbside pickup continues. Place holds by calling our front desk or using our website.

Patrons may come inside the library for one hour to browse the collection, select items to check out and use our copier. You can come in for two hours to use one of our public computers, which you’ll sign up for at the front desk.

All patrons must wear a mask or other facial covering unless medical reasons prevent it, use gloves or hand sanitizer and maintain social distancing. Please only touch materials you plan to check out.

The library hours, for now, are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Fridays.

We will do curbside pickup only 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. The library will be closed to patrons on Saturdays and completely closed Sundays. We hope to expand hours in June.

We are following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Office of Commonwealth Libraries guidelines.

All items need to be returned to the yellow drop boxes in our parking lot. No materials will be accepted at the front desk.

We put everything in a two-day quarantine. We use the date you returned it as the check-in date. Fines will be waived from March 14, 2020, to Sept. 6. You will need to pay for lost or damaged items.
