Two Republican candidates are seeking one open seat on Moore Township Board of Supervisors.
Michael A. Tirrell Jr. and incumbent Richard K. Gable are on the ballot for the six-year term.
Voters will choose one. The winner will face Democrat Jeffery Ayers in the November election.
The Republican candidates were asked to answer this question:
Why are you running for office?
Their responses follow.
REPUBLICAN
MICHAEL A. TIRRELL JR.
I am a 28-year resident of Moore Township and very involved with service in the community. I am recreation board chair for Moore Township. I am also vice chair of Moore Township Community Days, advisory board member for Second Harvest Food Bank and vice president of parents’ auxiliary for MTAA.
I feel that elected officials should be about service and treat residents as customers, address their concerns and make best decisions for all residents. Thank you for your support, and don’t forget to vote on May 18.
REPUBLICAN
RICHARD K. GABLE
I care about Moore Township and have spent the last 13 years as a supervisor. I feel that I am the most qualified of the candidates for this office. I have spent nine years as the secretary/treasurer of the township. As secretary/treasurer, I was in charge of the day-to-day running of the township, making sure that our tax money was not wasted.
My other qualifications include being on the planning commission since 2002. I am the liaison to the historical commission and chairman of First Regional Composting Authority.
I am in favor of land preservation in our township.
Michael A. Tirrell Jr.
