WHS track was eager for EPC meet

The Whitehall Track and Field team had a strong representation when the starting whistle sounded for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference AAA Championships this week.

The EPC Championships were held on Monday at East Stroudsburg South High School. Because of the location and Press deadline, we’ll have more on the results of the meet next week.

The girls were represented by Lindsay Solderitch who qualified in the 400 meter dash, Solderitch has been a consistent top-place finisher for the Zephyrs throughout the dual meet season, and the senior should put in a strong bid for a medal at the league championships. She’ll also appear in the 4x400 relay along with teammates Catherine Hudak, Sophia Mrazik, Mariele Patungan and M’Balu Fofana.

Patungan is a double-qualifier in individual events at the championships. She’ll be running in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles for the Zephs.

The 3,200 will see Mikayla Warren try to get to the podium for Whitehall.

In the high jump, Ally Cook will be representing the maroon and gold.

The pole vault will feature two Whitehall qualifiers. Arizona Marakovits and Tessa Hopkins will compete in that event.

In the throws, Toni Jones will be competing in all three events, qualifying in the shot put, discus and javelin. Jones has had some outstanding distances in the discus this year, and should be a strong contender at the championships.

Brielle Schrey will also be at ESS High School as she competes in the javelin for the Zephs.

Along with the 4x400 relay team, the girls also qualified their 4x100 team which features Aspen Schache, Fofana, Marakovits, Patungan and Cook.

The 4x800 will be represented as well as Hudak, Brianna Uhnak, Mrazik and Warren will be racing around the oval for a chance at some medals.

The boys will feature Tyler Kies in the pole vault.

They’ll also be represented by Aiden Tacker who qualified in both the shot put and discus.

In continuing a long tradition, the Zephyrs will feature their three boys relay teams at the EPC Championships. In the 4x100, Niko Nomura, Vinson Eggleston, Zachary Onsinyo, Daniel Sullivan and Ian Thomas will make up that sprint team.

The 4x400 will see the combined talents of Jacob Schlosser, Eggleston, Sean Connolly, Peter Busch, Jacob Busch and Angelo Daddona.

In the distance relay, the Zephs will feature Connolly, Jacob Schlosser, Peter Busch, Jacob Busch, Christian Foehrkolb and Brenden Sargent.
