LMT pool to open Memorial Day
During the hybrid Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting May 6, it was announced Lower Macungie Township’s swimming pool will reopen Memorial Day weekend. The fee schedule posted on the website was changed due to Gov. Tom Wolf’s new rules for public gatherings of the past week.
There will be online registration discounts for daily passes as well as additional fees for lap swimming Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, there will be a twilight fee after 4 p.m. Check the township website for up-to-date information.
Other fees for township services have been updated. This includes some new services in the township such as abandoned and foreclosed property registration. This information is available on the township website.
PPL is informing residents of brush and tree trimming in certain areas of the township to ensure utilities are not affected during storms. The area mentioned is Riverbend Road, Wild Cherry Lane, Lower Macungie Road and the Spur. There is a lot of overgrowth in these areas.
Record retention for the township was discussed with some amending of the policies. The commissioners approved the resolution.
Records dating back to 2013 will be shredded during the shredding event. Records to be shredded include payroll records, accounts payable and receivable, bank statements and timesheets.
A parcel of land necessary for the extension of Sauerkraut Lane has been condemned and acquired by the township. The property in mention is the Muse property in the vicinity of Quarry Road and Route 100. This resolution was approved by the commissioners.
A Department of Environmental Protection resolution for a sewer planning module at 6245 Mountain Road was approved due to a failure of the existing system.
A sewer planning module was approved for the Green Acres Outdoor Living Project along Schantz Road.
The township has left space at the Wescosville Recreation Center for tax preparation.
Marianne Kitzmiller has resigned from the audit advisory committee due to her relocating.
A bid award was approved for the ultra-thin project. The only bid came from Asphalt Maintenance Solutions. The amount of the bid is $243,858 and was approved by the commissioners.
A bid award went to Asphalt Maintenance Systems for the microsurfacing project. The commissioners approved the bid for $309,068.
Security releases were approved for the Stone Hill Meadows Recreation fee. Security releases were also approved for the Beit Simcha project, Jaindl Commercial Park North and 7368 and 7386 Alburtis Road.
There will be a zoning hearing board hearing in Macungie borough for the Brookside Country Club development. This hearing involves a substantial downsizing of the project. Reasons for this include stormwater and traffic concerns. Macungie informed Lower Macungie Township in case the township needs representation from them.
There will be a sewer clean out in the area of Catalpa and Woodbine in the near future. A reminder is being placed in mailboxes. It will take about five weeks and 51 residents will be affected.
