Allentown Central Catholic High School celebrates 2021 awards

Congratulations to our Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science participants. Of our 10 participants, six received first place awards and the opportunity to move onto the virtual state meeting. Both Anna Edwards and Shyanne Ly received the Schweighardt Award for their project. Regional first place: Sarah Boardman, Anna Edwards, Alexa Lehman, Shyanne Ly, Sophia Steckel and Kaysiana Yeager. Regional second place: Ava Luchetti, Lauren Nelson, Kate Smith and Cayla Zenie. Jennifer Winchilla is the club moderator.
Allentown Central Catholic High School placed third in this year’s Model United Nations competition. Special thanks and congratulations to Gwen Minogue and Ashleigh Meskill for chairing our school’s committee this year.
Medal winners include Will McGlynn, Samantha Roth, Liam Gibson, Cooper Mello, Justin Khoury and Joey Duffy. Congratulations to all competitors including Josh Devers, Harrison DeWalt, Joey Duffy, Anna Edwards, Jacob Gibbons, Liam Gibson, Charles Haring, Isabel Kehoe-Huck, Justin Khoury, William McGlynn, Cooper Mello, Ashleigh Meskill, Gwen Minogue, Meagan Niechwiadowicz, Connor O’Neill, Julia Roth, Samantha Roth and Nina Tormann. Jared Smith serves as the club moderator.
Catholic Math League winners include first place: Advanced Math – Madison Mancini; Algebra 2 – Anna Edwards; Geometry – Luke Myers. Second place: Advanced Math – Skya Guo; Algebra 2 – Alexa Baranko; Geometry – John Peters. Third place: Advanced Math - Nathan Myers; Algebra 2 - Kaysiana Yeager; Geometry – Isabel Kehoe-Huck. The club moderator is Patrick Sutton.

The ACCHS Mock Trial Team had the opportunity to compete in the regional competition, with the plaintiff competing against Daniel Boone High School and defense competing against Antietam High School. While they did not proceed further, students showed knowledge for the cases and put forth their best effort. First year monogram winners: Kelley Falcon, Stephen Miller and Hunter Ramsey. Third year monogram winners: Dylan Ferareza, Justin Khoury, William McGlynn and Emma Ossiander. Fourth year monogram winners: Harrison DeWalt, Jane Kamioner and Luke Kuklis. Most Valuable Advocate: Jane Kamioner. Head coach: Anthony Lopez. Assistant coaches: Olivia Lopez and Joe Holaska.
The ACCHS Scholastic Scrimmage Team competed in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference season during the fall, competed in multiple regional and national competitions and reached the regional finals during the spring state tournament. First year monogram winners: Anna Edwards, Leo Koons, Catherine Raynock and Sophia Steckel. Second year monogram winners: Josslyn Muto, Nathan Myers, Meagan Niechwiadowicz and Hunter Ramsey. Third year monogram winners: Enzo Fantozzi, Christian Giamolis, Cooper Mello, Margaret Michalak, Stephen Miller, Christopher Oliveira, Jonathan Romero, Nick Santos and Sam Ulicny. Fourth year monogram winners: Harrison DeWalt, Anthony Hudak and Jane Kamioner. Most Valuable Players: Harrison DeWalt and Jane Kamioner. Coaches for the team are Gary Buschta and Dr. Mark Wilson.

The Class of 2021 celebrated “College and Career Decision Day!” May 3. Senior students were able to celebrate their future plans by wearing a T-shirt featuring their college, military affiliation or the name/logo of their new job/company, along with their uniform kilt or pants and school shoes.
Thank you to the ACCHS Class of 2025 and their families for attending our freshman orientation night May 4. Central is excited to welcome its newest members to the Viking Nation.
Campus Ministry held a convent retreat to visit the Sisters of Christian Charity in Mendham, N. J. April 30. Our Vikettes who attended enjoyed a great tour, Mass, time with the sisters, pizza and a fun craft.
