You are invited to join the book club meeting 6-6:30 p.m. May 26. The link will be posted to the Facebook group.

We will discuss books set in Pennsylvania. Fiction, nonfiction and short stories are welcome reads for our discussions. If you don’t get a chance to read on this theme, you’re welcome to listen or talk about one of your other reads.

The library will be closed May 29 and 31 in observance of Memorial Day.

There will be an outdoor community crawl to visit seven parks and community locations beginning June 1. Suggestions for easy activities at each site are printed on the guide.

The crawl can count toward your events badges earned for the Summer Quest challenge (see details below). However, everyone is encouraged to visit some or all of the sites. The tour does not have to be completed in a day. Help yourself and the planet by making your visits using sustainable transportation, such as walking, running, biking, scooting or taking the bus.

Everyone who turns in a completed game sheet by Aug. 21 will receive a free plantable pencil. Supplies are limited.

The official kickoff event for Summer Quest 2021 Tails and Tales challenge is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. June 12. We will have chalk art, animal yoga, a light snack and much more.

Although we will be indoors, we are mindful of the continuing public health concerns and are planning activities to be fun and safe for everyone.

The programs are open to prereaders, children, teens and adults. Although some of the activities will be specific to an age group, multigenerational activities will be included.

Use the Libby app or the OverDrive website on any of your devices to read your favorite books or try a new one without leaving your house. More than 14,000 eBooks, audiobooks and magazines are available.

Just go to the library’s website and use your library card number and password to access OverDrive in the E-Resources tab or download the Libby app to your device.

If you need help with your password, call the library at 610-262-7351.

OverDrive added titles for simultaneous use in both fiction and nonfiction on Libby. This free offer will be available until the end of the year. That means no waiting for these materials, which include children and adult e-Books and audiobooks.

Masks are required and must be worn correctly while you are in the building. If you forget your mask or want another one, we have nonmedical, home-designed, washable masks for sale in children’s and adults’ sizes.

Hand sanitizer and gloves will be provided.

***

We offer curbside services for borrowing or returning materials for anyone who cannot wear a mask for a medical reason or is more comfortable staying outside. You may place holds on materials directly on your account using our online catalog. We will also copy, fax or print items for you.

Other library resources are also available online.

***

We are quarantining returned materials for a full 24 hours. The Lehigh-Carbon Library Cooperative is requiring that all member libraries follow this protocol, based on evolving health bureau information about the spread of the coronavirus via materials.

We ask that you continue to be patient if you are waiting for a hold.
