Allen/East Allen townships: Lappawinzo to host breakfast

Lappawinzo Fish and Game Association, 25 Lappawinzo Road, Allen Township, will hold its monthly breakfast buffet 8-11 a.m. May 23.

The club is also hosting trap shooting and skeet shooting.

Trap shooting is 5 p.m. Tuesdays.

Skeet shooting is 5 p.m. Thursdays.

Horner’s Cemetery Historical Society will give tours noon-2 p.m. May 30 at 4965 Nor-Bath Blvd. There is no rain date.

Meet the founders of the oldest permanent settlement of the Lehigh Valley (1728). Learn who is buried there and who is former President Teddy Roosevelt’s ancestor. Hear the story about General Brown and his friendship with former President George Washington and the gift he gave to Brown.

Meet Ben Franklin’s friend and hear about Franklin’s spring in Weaversville. Learn about the first woman killed by Indians in Northampton County. Hear the story about a minister who crossed the Delaware and was the first cleric to die in the Revolutionary War.

Learn about the first church, first congregation and first cemetery in Northampton County. Meet the man who was in charge of securing land for and building the county courthouse. See the deputy surveyor general of Pennsylvania.

Visit with the founders of the boroughs of Bath and Northampton as well as the townships of Allen and East Allen. Meet the builders of the two local Indian forts and the veteran from the French and Indian War. All of this history rests on one acre.

Tour attendees are asked to drive quietly down the lane to the cemetery as a church service will be taking place at that time.

Those who want to watch the Sons of Veterans memorial service should arrive 11:45 a.m.
