SHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.
Q. Who is in your family? Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My mom Karen, my dad Rich, my brother Daniel and my sister Samantha.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is history, because I love to learn about what normal people would have experienced years ago. It also got me interested in researching the history of local areas in eastern Pennsylvania. I always think of the present day as something we will look back at in history books years from now.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. From school, I received a varsity letter for being on the sideline at football games and assisting with the film setup, so the practices and games could be re-watched on HUDL.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?
A. In my sophomore year, I started weightlifting and filming the football practices starting in spring through the fall of 2019. In 2020, I decided to take the opportunity to play football since it was my senior year. COVID-19 caused a lot of safety restrictions at workouts and games and sometimes made it difficult, but it is something I will always remember vividly because of how different it was.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. After high school, I plan on pursuing a career on the railroad as a conductor, and eventually engineer (driver) and even more positions in the industry. I have been gaining basic experience in the last year while volunteering at the Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern Railroad in Kempton. This is an interest I’ve had my whole life and have studied in depth for years.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date was my transition of schools. In seventh grade, I switched from Salisbury to cyber school and had to get used to an entirely new system, but I was able to learn from it and came back to Salisbury a much wiser student.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered for how hard I tried to make a personal improvement, becoming much better academically and doing things I never saw myself doing.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. I can’t choose one person, I admire many people and groups. I certainly admire the many people who got me to where I am today, and all people who are talented academically, athletically and more.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Follow a path that you’re truly passionate about, not just a generic one. As difficult as it may seem to pursue, your passions and interests are what you know the most about.
