Constantly changing as I grow;
sometimes changing fast and other times very slow.
New pictures, different bed sheets, more clothes,anything my mother will allow;
each minor detail leading up to who I am now.
It used to be filled with toys;
now, posters of boys.
The hot pink painted walls are gone;
while the blue-gray paint was just put on.
The princess alarm clock was given away;
because “It’s easier to just use your phone,” they say.
It used to be a place for anyone;
now, it’s an escape from everyone.
It’s a place to go when my social battery runs out;
or when I feel like I need to shout.
It’s a haven for all my cries;
when I couldn’t bear the idea of anyone seeing my eyes.
It’s a place where I can hear a thought;
and most of the time, there’s a lot.
It’s a place that holds all my hopes and dreams;
reminding me to keep working no matter how hard it seems.
To everyone else, it’s simply four walls in a house;
no more significant than a small mouse.
But those four walls tell a story;
about all of my misery and all of my glory.
