SHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am currently in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.
Q. Who is in your family? Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. I live with my parents Karen and Stephen, as well as my sister, Kamryn. We have two puppies, Cooper and Josie and a 15-year-old cat, Pucca.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is by far English. I love discussing the difficult themes that classic literature brings up. I don’t think you can learn anything more important than critical thinking.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have been selected as an Outstanding Scholar by Kutztown University and received a scholarship.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?
A. During junior year, I enjoyed participating in Aevidum and the Environmental Awareness Club. Unfortunately our time was cut short and we have not been able to do anything since the pandemic began.
This year, I’ve volunteered to continue working on the yearbook team. Communication can be difficult because everything is digital, but everyone is doing their best.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. After high school, I plan to pursue a 4-year degree in art education at Kutztown University.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date has been my struggle with anxiety. However, I have been able to overcome many fears. I’m certain I will continue to fight many more.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I strive to be remembered as a person who helped others.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. The people I admire most are my parents, Karen and Steve. My dad works so hard and still remains humble. My mom is the strongest woman I know. The two of them have given me everything I could ever ask for and I can only hope to inspire others as they have inspired me.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. The best advice I have to give is “this too shall pass.” No matter what hardships come our way, life goes on.
