Expired medications accepted as part of national program

Press photo by Jim MarSh Salisbury police school resource officer Richard Nothstein shows the results of the drug take back program of no-longer-needed prescription drugs at Salisbury High School, 500 E. Montgomery St., April 24. The local take back program by area law enforcement officers is part of a biannual nationwide program that gives area residents the opportunity to dispose of outdated or no-longer-needed drugs in a safe manner. The drugs will be incinerated by facilities approved by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. Nothstein said his location “had a pretty busy day,” reflecting last year's collection efforts were limited by COVID-19 restrictions. Salisbury police also offered a drop-off location at Salisbury Middle School, 3301 Devonshire Road, as part of collection efforts.
