Dear Editor:
As a pharmacy operations manager for CVS Health in Wilkes-Barre for more than a decade, I was interested to read Theresa O’Brien’s story about recent changes in the pharmacy industry.
I have seen firsthand the ways that coordinated care and mail-order pharmacies have benefitted Pennsylvanians by improving quality of care while reducing overall drug costs. Our team at CVS Health’s mail-order pharmacy has worked tirelessly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure patients in Pennsylvania and across the region stayed current on their critical prescriptions.
Patients using mail-order pharmacies have access to convenient services like telephone and digital access to pharmacists and delivery to their doorstep. Nationwide, research shows mail-order pharmacies could lower prescription drug costs by nearly $6 billion per year.
All of us at CVS Health are deeply committed to patient choice and convenience. Improving access to mail-order pharmacy options is essential for maintaining Pennsylvanians’ access to prescription drugs.
