State Senator Lisa Boscola and State Representative Jeanne McNeill have announced state funding totaling $461,207 for projects in Lehigh and Northampton counties through the Act 13 Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.

“I’m pleased to announce the approval of these funds to help expedite important projects that will improve the quality of life and increase recreational opportunities throughout the Lehigh Valley,” Boscola said. “It was a pleasure to work alongside my colleagues in the State House of Representatives, including Representative Jeanne McNeill, to secure this needed funding to assist our local governments.”

The grants include an allotment of $142,000 for improvements in Authority Park in Hellertown.

Funding from the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program uses revenue generated through Act 13 of 2012 that imposes an impact fee on the state’s unconventional natural gas wells.
