CASD seeking input on 2021-22 learning options
Catasauqua Area School District is starting the planning process for the 2021-22 school year. Parents/guardians are asked to choose the learning option that works best for their child/children and in which their child will be most successful in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The deadline to fill out the form, found on the district website and social media sites, is 5 p.m. April 30.
CASD is offering three instructional models from which to choose.
The traditional in-person K-12 option has students attend school in their assigned buildings five days a week with appropriate health and safety protocols.
The online learning option has students participate in fully online educational programming from their homes. This program is managed by CASD certified teachers with the board-approved curriculum. Lessons will correlate to what is occurring in the traditional classroom.
Teachers will host live, interactive lessons with time available for independent work and/or teacher assistance. Active participation in live class meetings and timely work completion are essential for attendance purposes. Additionally, please note student cameras must be on at all times during live instruction.
The third option is home education and involves the submission of home education documents required and program delivery in compliance with Pennsylvania school law and regulations.
If families do not select an option by the April 30 deadline, the selection defaults to the traditional in-person learning option.
The deadline is to allow the school district appropriate time to staff accordingly for each learning option, arrange classroom locations and schedules and more. Details regarding student assignments and schedules will be finalized and communicated to families in August.
Students will remain in their selected learning option through the end of the first marking period of the 2021-22 school year.
