Lynn supervisors recently received an overview of the 2020 township audit figures from a representative of Frey & Company, which reported the financial statements were “materially correct.”

Township revenues went up in 2020 with a total net income of $222,000, with a net income increase of around $100,000 from the previous year.

Supervisor Justin Smith clarified that while township revenues increased $100,000, $117,000 was also raised in donations for the Veterans Memorial Fund.

He said this monetary increase was not actually Lynn Township money, and could not be used for any general operating expenses.

The audit overview showed the township received more grants in 2020, including a COVID-19 grant at the end of the year that could only be used on COVID-related expenses, and other significant changes in financial statements included a decrease in charges for services, fewer fees and permits, and an increase in park and recreation expenses.

Highway and street expenses were also up around $57,000 from the previous year, which was primarily attributed to the completion of a township bridge project.

Furthermore, during the road report the board approved the purchase of a mower and boom mower from Upper Macungie Township.

Supervisors also approved an agreement to continue the township website hosting for a one-year period at the cost of $1,000, plus $140 for any month where updates are provided.

Lastly under announcements, Smith noted the 14th annual Powwow would take place May 13-16 at Ontelaunee Park.

There is an admission fee to attend.

He said the Northwestern Lehigh Educational Foundation would be hosting its 5K Run 9 a.m. May 29 in the park.
