Lewis W. Whitaker Jr., 90, of Schnecksville, died peacefully, April 14, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He and his wife, Kathleen A. (Reaser) Whitaker, were married 39 years on Sept. 18, 2020.

Born Feb. 14, 1931, in Narvon, Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Lewis W. Whitaker Sr. and Sarah (Frankhouser) Martin.

He was the founder and chief executive officer of Whitaker Roofing and Siding Inc., Allentown from 1969-96.

Past president of Walnutport Beagle Club, he was a member of the former Blue Ridge Country Club, Palmerton.

He was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville.

He was an avid “big game” hunter and owned several race horses.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Cynthia G. Kneisley (Dennis) of Zionsville and Lewis W. Whitaker III of Florida; stepchildren Robert Schopf (Ardeth) of Breinigsville, William Schopf (Karen) of Whitehall, Mark Niess of Allentown, and Michael Niess of Florida; sister Patricia Walters of Vermont; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Donald A. Whitaker.

A memorial service will be held at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
