Kurt M. Striny, 89, formerly of Emmaus, died March 20, 2121, in Brick, N.J. He currently resided in Lakewood, N.J. with his wife of 34 plus years, Gertrude “Trudy” (Hoefele). He was the son of the late Mathias and Pia (Staudenmayer) Striny.

He sang and played accordion in several German choruses in his youth and in his later years, into his 80s. His lifelong love of music and his accordion playing skills are what we will remember about “Opa.” He developed an interest in sailing and he and Wilma enjoyed that for several years before she died.

Keith) Diehl, a stepson, Peter (Kelly) Hoefele, a stepdaughter, Janet (James) Eisenhard, former daughter-in-law Pamela Hoefele; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife of 32 years, Wilma (Strodel) in 1985 and a son, Kurt A. and a grandson, Jason.

Contributions may be made in his name to the Faith Community UMC Handbell Choir or your favorite charity.

A memorial service will be held 1 to 4 p.m. May 1 at the outdoor pavilion of the Faith Community UMC, 526 Route 9, Bayville, N.J. 08721. A graveside memorial service will be held in Emmaus at a later date.
