At the April 14 East Allen Township Board of Supervisors meeting, supervisors dealt with, among other issues, the 2021 township road maintenance program.
The supervisors identified and placed a number of streets on a repair priority list. Listed streets are Prospect Drive, Sylvan Drive, Laurel Court, Douglas Lane, Mohican Road and Circle Drive.
The streets needing upgrades will be put out for bid. Seven alternative streets were also identified.
In other business, the board received official notification the Old Carriage Road Bridge replacement project plans are available for review from Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Two escrow accounts were closed by supervisors due to project completion.
The board voted to hire seasonal workers at a rate of $14.50 per hour, retroactive to Jan. 4.
A new snowplow was approved for purchase at a cost of $13,700. The funding will come from a capital account. The new plow will replace an older snow plow that is no longer repairable.
Township Manager Brent Green noted CARES Act funding is helping with purchases.
Green also said there are plans to return to in-person meetings. He also reported the new website will be operational by the end of the month, and the upgrade of the payroll software is progressing.
The engineer, public works and zoning reports were not reviewed at the meeting but are available for residents at the township office.
Newly installed East Allen Township Fire Chief Josh Smith briefly addressed the board of supervisors. Supervisors thanked Smith for checking in.
The East Allen Township Open Space and Farmland Preservation Committee reported they purchased materials, signs, banners and handouts to promote the farmland preservation efforts.
The next East Allen Township Board of Supervisors meeting is planned for 7 p.m. April 22. It will be a virtual meeting. Visit eatwp.org for the call-in number and entry codes.
