Dr. Debashis Neogi, Ph.D.

Debashis Neogi, 61, of Lower Macungie Township, died April 16, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Sheema Neogi to whom he was married for 28 years. Born in Kolkata, he was a son of Mamata and the late Surya Neogi, of Kolkata, India.

He was a 1981 graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a double doctorate from Kansas State University in chemical engineering and statistics.

He worked for Air Products and Chemicals for 25 years before joining Evonik in 2017. As a technology leader in engineering statistics, he was the architect and developer of the widely used ProcessMD platform.

He was a great mentor and a passionate teacher, who enjoyed traveling and working with various teams around the globe to share his knowledge. He will be missed greatly by his extended family, friends and colleagues in the United States and India.

He was a member of the Hindu Temple Society, Allentown and the Indian American Association of Lehigh Valley.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Nikita; mother; a brother, Sudipto; a sister-in-law, Kalapi; a brother-in-law, Papu.
