To the Editor:
Post Election Day 2019, the media reported higher than expected turnout in South Whitehall Township as change candidates Kelly, Wolk and Utsch out polled their opponents by nearly 1,200 votes.
But, less than three weeks later, the outgoing board members and remaining board President Tori Morgan engineered the “midnight appointment” of a pro-development, agenda aligned ally, to deny the change voters sought.
Sure enough, 18 months later, on almost every vote of consequence, the two change candidates, Kelly and Wolk, have been defeated 3-2.
May 18 offers voters of South Whitehall the opportunity to overcome the setback of the “midnight appointment” and elect two candidates, Monica Hodges and David Kennedy, aligned to the change voters demanded.
Moderate, sensible, development with adherence to our standards will guide our growth.
The need for open space and land preservation will not be ignored.
Developer requests for waivers which jeopardize citizen safety will be denied. Transparency in filling open positions will be the standard.
Open government, welcoming rather than attacking opposing comments from commissioners and citizens, will bring needed civility and decorum back to our public meetings.
Vote for change! Vote for Monica Hodges and David Kennedy.
