Hurricane girls rebuilding this year

It’ll be a rebuilding year for the Liberty girls lacrosse team this spring, but head coach Laurie Ann Muller is taking it day-by-day with this year’s group.

“We have graduated over 20 seniors over the past two years, so we are rebuilding now with a solid base,” said Muller. “Our senior class of players are strong in leadership and play. We have many incoming young players who will make their mark on the varsity field. I am looking forward to playing and seeing what the girls can accomplish throughout the season.”

Returning seniors this year include Brooke Veit (Midfield), Natalia Leiria (Defense), Savanna Wooten (Goalie), Victoria Alvarez (Midfield), Allison Kloiber (Midfield/Attack), Erda Nesimi (Defense) and Elizabeth Rodriguez (Defense).

Newcomers of note are sophomores Jillian Mayes (Defense) and Sarah Fitzpatrick (Midfield).

Muller is just hoping for the team to return to a sense of normalcy sooner than later, so they can work on being a better team.

“We could not have any practice until the season started, so no off season training,” she said. “We also have had two weeks where we have not been able to practice due to COVID issues within the school. We are looking to have fun getting back on the field.”
