George S. Barkman, 81, of Breinigsville, died April 5, 2021, at home.

Born in Abington, he was the son of the late George S. and H. Louise (McDonough) Barkman.

He and his wife, Madeline M. (Buckley) Barkman, were married 59 years last August.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, his love of books, music and sports was legendary and on full display.

He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports and music, especially when they involved state championships and John Philip Sousa.

A graduate of Columbia Union College and the University of Baltimore Law School, he was an environmental claims executive at INA/Cigna for 30 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Becky A. Barkman of Chicago, Jeanne M. Daubert (Tim) of Canton, Conn., and Scott Barkman (Kiva) of Sebastopol, Calif.; grandchildren Devon and Brett Daubert, Forest and Journey Giulietti, and G. Spencer Barkman.

He was predeceased by his brother, Dennis.
