The Freedom Patriots picked up their second, third, and fourth wins of the season when they defeated Nazareth, 20-0, Emmaus, 2-1, and Liberty, 10-1.
The Emmaus game played last week at Freedom was a change of pace for the Patriots who won their previous games, including their first against Parkland, by large margins.
“Coming off two huge wins, we were really excited to play this game, and with the close game, it’s more exciting,” said Freedom left fielder Natalie Stannard. “Everybody’s into it. Everybody’s paying attention.”
Stannard had the RBI that scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning against Emmaus.
“My first at bat I struck out so I was trying to come into my second at bat positive, and then I was up in the box so that didn’t have as much spin coming in on me, and then I saw that pitch come down the middle,” she said.
Julia Heineman scored from third base.
Freedom pitcher Jennifer Slanovec struck out the side in order in the sixth inning.
“It really just comes down to the confidence we have in the players,” said Freedom coach Michele Laubach. “We have a solid lineup, so it gets a little unnerving when you’re not scoring the runs you’re used to, but we don’t get really excited about it because we have confidence in them.”
This week, Freedom will travel to Northampton on Wednesday before hosting the K-Kids on Friday.
