Dorothy M. Diehl
Dorothy M. “Zelda” Diehl, 83, of South Whitehall Township, died April 11, 2021, at home.
She was happily married to David W. Diehl for 56 years until his death in October 2019.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Grace (Kovach) Mikylychak.
A 1955 graduate of Parkland High School, she was the head cheerleader and played clarinet in the school band.
She worked for the former Bell Telephone Co., Allentown, for the former Parkland Beverage, Schnecksville, and for Dr. Robert Smith at his dental practice.
Along with her husband and children, she learned to ski at the former Apple Hill, Orefield.
She was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield, where she sang with the choir for many years, as her husband played the organ.
She loved going on road trips and antiquing with her husband and she enjoyed working in her flower garden and was an amazing baker.
Known as “the candy lady,” she was always sharing treats with staff at her favorite spots, and she made everyone feel welcome in her home. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Fun, kind and loving, she will be missed by many.
Her survivors include children David Diehl Jr. (Wendy) of Long Pond, and Kathy Everleth (Christopher) of Emmaus; grandsons Daniel Diehl and Ryan Everleth; sisters Carol Martin (Michael) of Allentown and Grace Keller (Gilbert) of Macungie; sister-in-law Janice Mikylychak of Allentown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings Richard Mikylychak, Eleanor Reimert and Vera Marshall.
There will be a private family memorial service at Keller Funeral Home, Fogelsville.
