Public Library of Catasauqua: How to search for something to read at catasauquapl.org
For some time now, library services at the Public Library of Catasauqua have been curbside.
As many of you know, here at the library, curbside service means personal service. With that in mind, library staff would like to share with you how, from home, you can search the collections of all 12 libraries that form the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative.
Not only can you browse more than 500,000 books, DVDs and CDs, you can - from the comfort of your home - place a hold on most items and have that item sent to you at the Catasauqua library.
The exceptions are those items that are new and items that have been new for six months.
Here’s how to search from your home computer:
1. Click on Our Catalog at catasauquapl.org.
2. Look for the green search button.
3. Note Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative is the default search. You can also search just one library’s collection.
4. You can search by author, title or keyword in the Type drop-down menu.
5. Type in whatever author, title or keyword you are looking for in the white search section.
6. Choose All Formats for the most results unless you only want a book, DVD or CD.
7. Click on the green search button for your results.
You will need to place a hold on any item at another LCLC library for that item to be sent to our library, even if the item is available. You will need to place a hold on any item from the Catasauqua library that is currently in circulation to another patron.
To place a hold:
8. Click on the picture of the item you want. There is a thumbnail picture of all items.
9. Click on Place Hold on the far right of the screen.
10. Type in your LCLC card number and your PIN, which is the last four digits of your phone number.
11. Click Login and select a pickup location.
12. Indicate how you want to be contacted.
13. Click Submit.
14. Your selection will be noted and indicated as being successfully placed.
15. If the hold was not successful, repeat steps 8-13. Be sure your LCLC card number is correct.
