EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My family members include my parents Mary and Matt, my brother Jack and my dog Pippa.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is computer science because it is challenging and I find it amazing computers can be programmed to perform complex tasks in such short amounts of time.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am a member of National Honor Society and I have achieved Principal’s Honor Roll every year. I have also received the Academic Excellence Award every year.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I am a member of the cross-country, swimming and track and field teams and I am also a Hornet Ambassador. It was disappointing to have our track season canceled last spring, so I am grateful we were able to have both cross-country and swim seasons this year. Both seasons had constantly changing schedules, but I enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with my teammates and compete. Outside of school, I teach swim lessons.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. Navigating the college search and application process during the pandemic was very challenging for me. Simple things like taking the SAT and visiting campuses became very difficult, or even impossible, which added extra obstacles to an already stressful process.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. Next year, I will be attending Bucknell University to major in computer science and engineering.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my parents because they are very hardworking and encouraging people. They have shown me the value of dedication and inspire me to be a better person every day.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I hope I am remembered as a hardworking student and also a positive and helpful friend and teammate.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Don’t be afraid to take advantage of the opportunity to try something new, because you will never know the outcome if you don’t try.
