Horizon youth camp registration open
Northampton Community College’s Horizons for Youth Summer Program will be back in full swing this June through August, and registrations are now open for full-day and half-day camps.
The programs, for students entering grades kindergarten through ninth in 2021, offer fun enrichment programs for children. Last summer, COVID shut down in-person classes, forcing directors to get creative with how to keep kids engaged – and enrolled -- virtually.
This summer, as more of the population becomes eligible for and receives vaccinations, more and more opportunities to return to some version of normalcy – including how kids will spend their summers – are starting to make a comeback.
Horizons for Youth summer camps will be one of them.
“I am excited to have students back on campus this summer to explore and learn in a safe manner,” said Horizons Assistant Program Director Carrie Hirschman. “We offered remote classes last summer, but we missed the kids. I feel it is important to have kids back on campus together and let the learning begin. Safety is our first priority, and we will have COVID-19 protocols in place.”
The camps include options like art, music, science, technology, cooking, archery, thematic and more. Courses are taught by highly-qualified instructors, most are teachers in the K-12 system or experienced in their particular craft.
Children can attend programs at either or both Bethlehem locations, at NCC’s main campus at 3835 Green Pond Road, or its Fowler Family Southside Center, at 313 E. Third Street in south Bethlehem.
Programs run June 14-Aug. 20. Register weekly or for more than one camp at once. Prices range from $99-$169 per week for half-day classes, and $225 per week for full-day programs.
