Catty track teams open season

Catty’s track and field teams got their season started in a dual meet against Southern Lehigh and Pen Argyl on Tuesday afternoon.

The boys fell to the Spartans 118-23 and to the Knights 100-41. The girls lost to the Spartans 114-30 and to the Knights 99-42.

Despite the losses, several members of the team stood out.

Wyatt Younes, a sophomore, won the long jump with a distance of 18-10. He was Catty’s lone boy winner on the day.

On the girls side, the Roughs did well in the shot put as Lauren DeLong, a freshman, took first with a distance of 30-7. She was the girls only winner. Aidan Gerhard was second with a distance of 29-2.25 and Taylor Hicks was fifth with a 25-3.25.

Lexi Rushatz had a nice day for the girls. She took second in the 400 in 1:04.3, while adding two fourths - one in the 800 and the other in the 1600 with times of 2:40.6 and 5:56.5, respectively.

In the discus, Gerhard had a 77-10 throw to take second while Kaitlyn Lawton, a freshman, had a throw of 60-9 for fourth.

Gerhard was also third in the javelin with a 71-08 and Taylor Hicks took fourth with a throw of 69-08.

In the long jump, Madison Harth was fourth with a 14-5 and Kyra Jackson finished fifth with a 14-1.5.

The 3200 relay team took second in 12:36.2 and was made up of Breonna Brinkley, Ashley Ritter, Lucy Brubaker and Alivia Bear.

The 400 relay and the 1600 relay each took thirds. The 400 had a time of 59.5 and was made up of Lailey Polanco, Kyra Jackson, Jaclyn Waltz and Madelyn Gonzalez. The 1600’s time was 5:13.7 and the team was made up of Brinkley, Brubaker, Rushatz and Juliza Rodriguez.

For the rest of the boys, Younes was third in the 100 with a time of 12.0. In the 400, Cole Brown was second in 56.6 and Angel Font was fourth in 58.2. Font also took fifth in the 800 in 2:29.6. Donovan Ahart was fourth in the 1600 in 5:56.4.

Luis Del Rosario took fifth in the 100 hurdles in 20.8

Dorian Hoagland was second in the javelin with a throw of 141-08 and Tyler Monahan was third in the shot with a throw of 38-5.25.

The 400 relay team took second in 48.4 and was made up of Ian Juica, Ty Reitz, Jacob Dove and Younes

The 1600 relay was third in 4:16.1 and was made up of Font, Brown, Jared Schneck and Jaxon Berrier while the 3200 relay was third in 9:47.2 and was made up of Brown, Font, Schneck and Jaxon Berrier.
