Rebecca Lynne (Werley) Bitting, 45, of Macungie, died peacefully March 28, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Jared P. Bitting to whom she was married for 20 years. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of Barry B. and Elaine J. (Mohr) Werley, of Orefield.
She was a graduate of Millersville University in 1998 with a bachelor of science degree in education for social studies and later earned a master’s degree in library science from Kutztown University.
She was a school librarian and social studies teacher at Trexler and Raub middle schools in Allentown since 2006.
In January, she received the first 69 News Golden Apple Award for her dedication and relentless pursuit of making sure her “kids” had the latest technology to be successful students.
She was a member of Morgenland Union Church, Orefield, where she taught Sunday school, was the webmaster and a member of council.
She is survived by her husband; parents; a son, Logan Patrick, at home; a brother, Bryan P. Werley, Esq. and his wife, Brooke, of Meadowbrook; a nephew, Robert C.; a niece, Emma J.; numerous additional nieces and nephews and their families.

A private memorial service will be held at Morgenland Union Church, Orefield. The public is invited to pay their respects 5 to 7 p.m. April 6 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. Strict COVID-19 restrictions will be followed; everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
