Rebecca Lynne (Werley) Bitting, 45, of Macungie, died peacefully Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

The beloved wife of Jared P. Bitting, the couple were married 20 years.

Born Jan. 1, 1976, in Allentown, she was the daughter of Barry B. and Elaine J. (Mohr) Werley of Orefield.

A 1998 graduate of Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education for social studies, she later earned a Master’s degree in library science from Kutztown University.

She was a school librarian and social studies teacher at Trexler and Raub middle schools, Allentown, since 2006.

In January, she received the first 69 News Golden Apple Award for her dedication and relentless pursuit of making sure her “kids” had the latest technology to be successful students.

She was a member of Morgenland Church, Orefield, where she taught Sunday School, was the webmaster and member of council.

In addition to her loving husband and parents, she is survived by a son, Logan Patrick Bitting at home; brother Bryan P. Werley Esq. and his wife, Brooke, of Meadowbrook; nephew Robert C. Werley; niece Emma J. Werley; and numerous additional nieces and nephews and their families.

A private memorial service will be held at Morgenland Church, Orefield, with the Rev. Sally D. Zelker officiating.

The public is invited to pay their respects from 5-7 p.m. April 6 in Heintzelman Funeral Home, 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.
