John Keyser, 86, of Bethlehem, died March 18, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg. Born in Ramsey, N.J., he was a son of the late John and Hilda (Scholz) Keyser. He was the husband of Helen (Varady) Keyser, for 44 years.
He graduated from Muhlenberg College with a degree in social work and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau. He earned a master’s degree in journalism from Lehigh University.
He was a radio operator in the U. S. Marines.
He was a staff reporter for the Morning Call for many years and later for Owens Brockway Company for nine years before he retired.
He was an active member of St. John’s Windish Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, where he sang on the choir for over 50 years, taught Sunday School and was on various congregation committees for many years.
He was a member of the Steelworker’s Archives, South Bethlehem Historical Society and the Bethlehem/Murska Sobota Sister Cities Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Margaret Richardson (Roger) of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey; a niece; and a nephew.
